Both designs incorporates our history and expertise of producing some of the longest drivers on the market. While distance a conforming driver can generate is governed by the Rules...we designed - a driver that is very forgiving - giving all golfers a better chance to hit the fairway - even with off -center (toe and heel) tee shots and another design that is simply too hot!
The conforming driver when tested against different other drivers by high and low handicappers found the fairway 22 % more frequently than with all other drivers tested. That saves trips into the "Jungle", for lost balls, and only thing lost here are some of those wayward driver shots we all have.
Today's modern drivers and golf balls produce significantly less spin for better ball flight trajectory, more distance and less wayward shots when hitting the sweet spot - resulting in greater forward roll after landing on the fairway. The PR787 is USGA conforming, but as they state in their conforming report, it is “Borderline on the CT” and for “spring like effect”. In lay terms, that means it’s hot! Our drivers, even as a prototype were voted among “The Top Two Drivers” at recent PGA International shows. Being PGA professionals, we don't change for the sake of change alone, unless we can make it better, then we will and now we have! For example, the ball alignment mark on top of the "787" is the actual width of the golf ball with the two silver angles converging to the enlarged sweetspot. This not only helps your alignment at address, but if you want to hook or cut the ball, just rotate the two angles while at address and align the face in the target direction you want. It works!
The "Pro Tour 787 PR" was designed for the driver to be very forgiving - giving you a better chance to hit the fairway - even with off center tee shots such as hitting off the toe or heel of the driver. Since no Company can improve upon a player's "Good Hits", we wanted to design a forged driver that would "Make your Bad Hits Better". The "787" is designed for more of your shots landing in the fairway and not in the "Jungle". Using a group of testers through each design stage and from all skill levels, most marveled at the ability to "keep the ball" in play, even with off center hits and still not losing much distance.
The Non Conforming has a special head material with a variable face thickness and a trampoline effect that is..".we'll say..is just non conforming"
