Carmel Classic Scheduled for Quail Lodge in October
August 25 (Monterey, CA) - Lee Miller announced today from company headquarters in Salinas, that Feel Golf Company will be the title sponsor for this year's annual U.S. Challenge Golf Tour "Carmel Classic". This tour, started by Athena Chakeres, a former Futures and Players West Tour player, hopes to provide women and men with the best developmental golf tour available. Athena believed that players on the mini-tours would improve their overall game by playing courses that are visually, mentally, and physically challenging and thus preparing them for playing on major tours.
The Carmel Classic, for women only, is scheduled for October 20-24 at Quail Lodge Golf Resort and Golf Club in Carmel, CA. Defending champion is Cheryl Musser from Reseda, CA who was the 2001 USCGT leading money winner. This year's purse is $10,000.
A Pro-Am, scheduled for Monday, October 21st, is held to provide the entire golfing community a special opportunity to enjoy a day of golf with a Tour Player working her way to the LPGA. At the same time, the event supports a worthy cause and helps raise money for the professionals' purse. The proceeds from this event will go to the Monterey Boys and Girls Club and the Vallejo Boys and Girls Club. Entry fee includes lunch or dinner with your Pro(s), green fee and cart, range balls, tee prizes, skill prizes, team prizes, and much, much more!
There will also be a free junior clinic Sunday, October 20th from 2-4 pm.
